With high temperatures expected across Greater Cincinnati through the rest of the week, Boone County residents looking to escape the heat can find air-conditioned public spaces throughout the county.

Boone County officials confirmed to LINK nky that designated cooling centers have not been activated, but residents can escape the heat at several Boone County Public Library branches and the R.C. Durr YMCA during normal operating hours. The same locations were designated as cooling centers during a period of high temperatures in late June.

The R.C. Durr YMCA, located at 5874 Veterans Way in Burlington, is open daily from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Boone County Public Library locations that can be used during regular business hours include:

  • Main Library: 1786 Burlington Pike in Burlington
  • Florence Branch: 7425 U.S. 42 in Florence
  • Hebron Branch: 1863 North Bend Road in Hebron
  • Scheben Branch: 8899 U.S. 42 in Union
  • Walton Branch: 13000 Towne Center Drive in Walton
  • Chapin Memorial Library: 6517 Market St. in Petersburg

Residents are advised to check individual library branch hours before visiting.
