ALS United Ohio, a nonprofit advocacy organization for people affected by ALS, is hosting two upcoming fundraising events in Northern Kentucky.
The first event, Christmas in July, will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, at Blessed Sacrament, located at 2409 Dixie Highway in Fort Mitchell. The event is being organized by the family of Thomas Huller, a retired Park Hills dentist who’s been diagnosed with ALS. During the event, Huller will sell copies of his children’s Christmas book, “The Jack Story.” The book sale proceeds will go toward benefiting ALS United Ohio.
The family-friendly event will feature raffles, giveaways, photo opportunities with Santa Claus, a Christmas-themed selfie station and a Christmas card-writing station. Moreover, cards created during the event will be given out to individuals living with ALS.
“Expanding our footprint into Northern Kentucky is a major milestone for ALS United Ohio,” ALS United Ohio President Marlin Seymour said in a news release. “It allows us to extend vital, life-changing resources to families and caregivers who need it most. Incredible work is already underway across the region and we’re proud to build on that momentum to ensure every person impacted by ALS has access to the critical resources and care they deserve.”
In addition, ALS United Ohio is launching its first WalkALS event in Northern Kentucky on October 4 at Pioneer Park, located at 3952 Madison Pike in Covington.
The event includes a community walk, food and beverage vendors, sponsor booths, family activities, live music performed by former Major League pitcher Bronson Arroyo, with appearances by mascots and other characters.
