Ann Street Limited, a new infill housing development, will bring more single-family homes to west Newport.
Construction began on July 23, with nonprofit Urban Community Developers, Inc. leading the project to build 11 single-family homes on vacant urban lots. The development is a collaboration between Urban Community Developers, the City of Newport, Heritage Bank, The Catalytic Fund, and other community partners.
The homes will offer up to 2,200 square feet of living space, a 300-square-foot rooftop deck, off-street parking, and lower levels designed to accommodate future expansion. In addition, each home will include at least two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with electric vehicle chargers as a standard feature. Homes are expected to start in the upper $500,000s.
“Ann Street Limited is about more than building homes; it is about investing in a neighborhood with deep roots and real momentum. This project is about spurring growth and reinvestment in the urban corridor where I grew up,” UCDI founder Bill Butler said in a news release. “These homes are intentionally designed to fit within Newport’s Westside, offering modern living while supporting the character, connectivity, and long-term strength of the surrounding community.”
The project also includes the creation of the Ann Street Hub at 134 W. 10th St., which will serve as a resource center for prospective buyers and neighborhood residents. The hub will provide information on homebuying, neighborhood improvement programs, and grant opportunities, including ReNewport’s Residential Façade Program, which offers income-qualified homeowners grants of up to $5,000 for exterior improvements.
Sales for Ann Street Limited will be led by Mark Ramler of Mansion Hill Fine Properties, a Keller Williams Realty Services agency.
