The grand opening for a mini soccer pitch at Bernadette Watkins Park in Newport is slated for later this month.
The soccer pitch, built by FC Cincinnati, is essentially a mini soccer field with turf. It will be located at 401 W 6th St. and open on July 23 at 6 p.m., according to a flyer from the FC Cincinnati Foundation and the city.
Mini-pitches expand access to the game by providing safe, welcoming places for the community to play and enjoy soccer.
