The Edgewood City Council recognized National Public Works Week at last week’s meeting as city officials honored public works employees.
Mayor John Link announced May 17-23 as National Public Works Week in Edgewood, recognizing the workers responsible for maintaining the city’s roads, stormwater systems and other essential infrastructure.
Boone County Infrastructure Project Manager Tyler Hill read the proclamation, which praised public works professionals for “rebuilding and improving, and protecting our nation’s transportation system, water supply, water treatment, solid waste systems, public buildings and other structures and facilities essential to our citizens.”
The proclamation emphasized the importance of public awareness and appreciation for public works programs and employees, stating the services they provide are vital to “sustainable and desirable communities, public health, high quality of life and the well-being of the people of Edgewood.”
Also noting that 2026 marks the 66th annual National Public Works Week, sponsored by the American Public Works Association.
Following the reading, Link thanked city crews for their ongoing work throughout the year.
“Thank you for all that you do behind the scenes and make it easy for us to get around,” Link said.
