Conditions will become favorable again for locally heavy rain on Wednesday with showers and storms that will move across the region. Given the recent wet conditions, this could lead to some flooding issues along with creek and stream rises. Image and caption provided | National Weather Service

A flood watch is in effect for Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties starting tonight and lasting until late Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

“A warm front will lift north across the Ohio Valley later tonight [and] into Wednesday,” according to the National Weather Service. “Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be possible. Widespread rainfall amounts of up to an inch can be expected with local amounts of 2 to 3 inches possible.”

People around rivers, creeks, streams and other flood-prone areas should monitor weather conditions and be prepared to act if flooding occurs.

Each county has its own emergency notification system, which residents can learn about at the links below. All systems are free.
