Paul Kremer, army veteran and current director of the Union Public Works Department, was named as the new Union city administrator Monday night. Kremer will take the reins from Amy Safran, who announced her retirement in April after occupying the position for five years.
Kremer said he was looking forward to “just making the city look a little better every single day,” which he described as a “a cool thing, a little bit of giving back to your community.”
Kremer served in the army for 30 years, first as a combat engineer and then as a construction engineer. His service included tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the Pentagon. He joined the City of Union in 2023 as the director of Public Works.
Kremer said he was looking forward to continuing the many public projects throughout the city.
There was “a lot of work to be done,” Kremer said.
