Kentucky Rep. Mark Hart, a Republican from Falmouth who represents the Kentucky House’s 78th district, which includes a chunk of southern Boone and Kenton counties, has been appointed to the National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.

The council serves as an advisory body for the US Department of Transportation and the Federal Interagency Committee on Emergency Medical Services; it provides recommendations on policies related to emergency medical services.

“I am honored to have been appointed to this position with [the committee],” said Hart. “I have worked more than 30 years in the EMS and emergency response fields and have served 10 years in the Kentucky Legislature.  I look forward to using my experience in my work with the council to improve EMS nationwide.”

Hart has a professional background in fire and EMS. He is a retired fire lieutenant of the Lexington Fire Department and a retired captain of Pendleton County EMS. Additionally, he’s a former member of the Kentucky National Guard. Finally, he is the current director of Owen County EMS.
