The second edition of the Kentucky High School Girls Soccer Association poll is out.
Five Northern Kentucky teams remained in the poll with Notre Dame moving up to No. 2. The Pandas are 6-2 on the season after a loss to No. 1 Central Hardin on Saturday and a win over Beechwood on Monday. They play at Conner on Wednesday with showdowns against Bishop Brossart, Highlands, West Jessamine and Simon Kenton looming over the next two weeks.
Bishop Brossart dropped to No. 8 after a loss to Simon Kenton on Aug. 26. They bounced back with a win over North Oldham on Aug. 29 before losing to Badin (OH) on Monday. They face Ryle on Wednesday, the Lady ‘Stangs currently sitting at 3-3-1 on the year.
Highlands stayed put at No. 15 despite a 1-4 start to the year. They’ve dropped four straight, most recently to Sacred Heart on Aug. 24 and Summit Country Day on Aug. 27. They return to action with Beechwood on Wednesday.
Ryle also stayed put at No. 17, the Lady Raiders at 4-2-1 on the year and coming off a Smoky Mountain Cup championship in Gatlinburg, Tennessee after going 2-0-1. They host Bishop Brossart on Wednesday in a top 25 matchup.
Simon Kenton moved up a spot to No. 20. They had a busy four-game week last week, going 2-2 with wins over Bishop Brossart and Station Camp (TN), and losses to Henry Clay and Father Ryan (TN). They went 1-2 at the Smoky Mountain Cup championship in Gatlinburg.
In order to vote, a coach must be a member of the KHSGSCA.
Believe it or not, the KHSAA soccer regular season only has about a month to go before postseason hits as teams try to position themselves.
