The intersection of Greenup Street and Pleasant Street in Covington will become a four-way stop beginning Wednesday, April 8.
The city stated the conversion is aimed at improving safety.
“The Greenup and Pleasant intersection presents unique safety challenges due to the steep grade of the roadway, which can limit visibility for drivers attempting to look in both directions before entering or crossing the intersection,” according to the city. “The addition of a four-way stop is intended to create a safer environment for all.”
The work is an extension of the two-way conversion of Greenup Street that went into effect last year. Crews have already installed new ADA-compliant handicapped ramps at the intersection and will be stripping new crosswalks and stop bars on Tuesday. Stops signs will go in on Wednesday. Completion of the conversion by Wednesday is weather-dependent. Drivers who frequent the area should be on the lookout for crews this week.
