Newport has been nominated for the USA Today award for best historic small town.
USA Today gathered 20 small-town nominees across the country with fewer than 25,000 people, each with fascinating histories.
People can vote once per day until polls close on Monday, March 30, at noon. The winning small towns will be announced on Wednesday, April 8.
