The city of Fort Thomas has selected Brandon Voelker as its new city attorney following the departure of Tim Schneider.
The city said it extends its appreciation to Schneider for his years of dedicated service to Fort Thomas—a role he has held since 2020.
Schneider began his legal career as an assistant prosecutor in Clermont County, Ohio, in 1989. He later moved into private practice in Northern Kentucky in 1992, where he spent his career practicing as a criminal defense attorney. Schneider has recently accepted the opportunity to return to the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office as chief of staff.
Schneider said this new role will make it impossible for him to devote the time necessary to continue serving the needs of Fort Thomas. He expressed gratitude for his time working alongside city administration and said that Fort Thomas “has, and will be, one of the best cities in the country.”
“On behalf of the city of Fort Thomas, I want to thank Tim Schneider for his years of service and commitment to our community,” said Ellison. “Tim has been a valued advisor to the city, and we are grateful for the professionalism and dedication he brought to the role.”
Voelker brings more than 25 years of legal experience, beginning in 1999, with a practice that includes litigation and extensive work in municipal law and local government representation. Early in his career, he served as an Assistant Kenton County attorney, working with the fiscal court.
“Brandon comes highly recommended and brings strong municipal law experience that will serve Fort Thomas well,” Ellison said. “We look forward to working with him as he steps into this important role.”
