Oakley Farris, a local philanthropist who celebrated his 101st birthday in August, died last week.
Farris and his wife, Eva, were known in about every corner of Northern Kentucky.
At Northern Kentucky University alone, the Farrises donated millions, leading to the creation of Griffin Hall building, the Oakley and Eva G. Farris Amphitheater, and many others.
The couple also paid for murals on the Roebling, helped remodel the Carnegie Center for the Arts, and donated to Covington Latin School, among many other philanthropic donations.
Oakley is preceded in death by his wife, Eva. He is survived by his son, Bill Scheyer, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.Â
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption at 1140 Madison Ave. in Covington.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to The Carnegie at 1028 Scott Boulevard in Covington to support the creation of a Meditation Garden in Oakley and Eva’s honor.Â
