Lanes on Interstate 71 in southern Boone County will be closed over the weekend as part of the ongoing resurfacing project.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, work will take place from 7 p.m. Sept. 12 to 7 a.m. Sept. 15. At this time, one right lane will be closed in both directions on I-75 between the I-71 split and the Boone and Gallatin County line, covering mile markers 69.8 to 77.4.

KYTC will install message boards and signage to alert drivers to lane and ramp closures, and traffic may be diverted through portions of the work zone. Throughout resurfacing, construction equipment will be entering and exiting the area.

Drivers should expect delays and consider alternate routes over the weekend. In a press release, KYTC advised drivers to proceed cautiously through the construction zone.

More information on the resurfacing project is available from KYTC.
