Highland Heights heard an ordinance that could increase the alcohol license fee for businesses Tuesday night.

According to City Administrator Michael Giffen, raising the alcohol license fee is a standard procedure that’s reviewed every five years.

“Every 5 years, cities can increase their alcoholic beverage license fees by 5% to keep pace with inflation. This was simply an amendment to do so,” Giffen said.

The ordinance had its first reading on Tuesday and will have a second reading during the next council meeting on Sept. 15.
