Perspectives: Skills for Life, a new Florence-based nonprofit focusing on teenagers and young adults with autism and related developmental diagnoses, is set to open this fall.

The organization will open its new headquarters on Oct. 15 at 45 Cavalier Blvd. Perspectives will offer structured, research-based programs focused on developing essential social, life, and vocational skills. Its curriculum focuses on a blend of in-person instruction, hands-on practice, and community-based learning.

Perspectives’ initial offerings include:

  • PEERS Social Skills Groups, developed at UCLA, to support friendship-building.
  • Healthy Living Habits, covering topics like online safety, relationships, and wellness.
  • Perspectives Membership Events, a calendar of over 30 annual inclusive social gatherings.
  • Surviving and Thriving in the Real World, or STRW, a 16-week daily living skills program by Dr. Aimee Duncan, is being offered for the first time in the U.S.

The nonprofit is currently enrolling participants ages 11–21 and seeking volunteers, educators, donors, and community partners.

The grand opening event will feature facility tours, program demonstrations, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. It is free and open to the public.
