The Parish Kitchen, a well-known food kitchen in Covington associated with the Diocese of Covington, is raising money to fund a facilities expansion.
The expansion will enable the organization to enhance its outreach efforts, as well as those of its affiliated programs, including the Mobile Food Pantry and Pickett’s Corner.

In fact, Mark Hehman, the brother of Catholic Charities’ Mobile Food Pantry’s Coordinator John Hehman and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, recently helped bolster the effort with a $500 donation.
Hehman’s gift, as well as any other donations the organization receives, will be matched dollar for dollar by well-known local philanthropist Oakley Farris. The campaign aims to raise $50,000 by June 30, and money raised will fund the construction of a new multi-purpose room.
Parish Kitchen serves more than 50,000 free meals every year, according to a press release from Catholic Charities. The Mobile Food Pantry provides free meals to six rural communities surrounding the urban core. The pantry served about 17,000 people last year. Pickett’s Corner, on the other hand, refurbishes donated bicycles and gives them out to people in need. Pickett’s Corner has distributed over 700 bikes to people in the region since 2022.
The campaign has already raised about $29,000. Fill out Catholic Charities’ online donation form to donate to the campaign.
