Kenton County Fiscal Court held a first reading this week of its proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year, which begins July 1.
There was little discussion of the budget at the meeting, but documents from the fiscal court show a handful of key differences from fiscal year 2025.
Some key differences from last year include the following:
- A slight decrease in general government appropriations
- A steep increase in capital project appropriations, up from roughly $61.7 million in fiscal year 2025 to about $178 million in fiscal year 2026
- An additional $4 million in capital projects related to the golf course
View appropriation comparisons below. The fiscal court will perform a second reading and cast a final vote on the budget at their next meeting on May 27.
