“KCAS [Kenton County Animal Services] is beyond capacity and desperately needs fosters!” announced a social media post from the county agency on Sunday.
Fostering refers to temporarily keeping a shelter animal in one’s home to ease the burden on shelter services. “We have so many wonderful pets waiting for a safe place to stay until they find their forever homes — but we can’t do it without you,” the post reads. “We have dogs as small as 25 pounds and many breeds.”
To foster, bring your ID to the animal services office on 1020 Mary Laidley Road between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays or between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekends. Medical care for the animals and all supplies are provided by animal services.
