The Fourth Street Bridge that connects Covington and Newport is set to undergo a routine inspection.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced that on Tuesday, April 1, inspection crews will conduct a detailed assessment of the bridge between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. each day.
The inspection is expected to take several days, with completion anticipated by Friday, April 4, weather permitting.
Here’s what people can expect:
- No lane closures:Â Vehicle traffic will not be impacted.
- Sidewalks remain open:Â Pedestrians can continue using both the north and south sidewalks.
- Rope-access inspection:Â Crews will use a specialized rope access and fall-arrest climbing technique, staged from the sidewalk and beneath the bridge.
Pedestrians are advised to exercise caution when using the sidewalk during the inspection, due to equipment, crews and narrow walkways.
Any changes to the project schedule will be shared via KYTC District 6 social media and the District 6 Roadshow.
