The Rev. Thomas Robbins, a local parish priest as well as a teacher and chaplain at Holy Cross High School in Covington, died early Wednesday morning.

“We’re very proud and happy to share what an important part of Holy Cross that Father was for us,” Holy Cross principal Mike Holtz told LINK nky. “I can’t stress enough the number of lives he impacted in such a positive way. Although he has passed, his impact will live on for a long, long time.”

Robbins served as a parish priest in several local churches, including St. Pius in Edgewood, St. Matthews in Morning View and St. Anthony in Taylor Mill, among others. He also served as a chaplain in the Air Force Reserves. He mostly remembered, however, as being a teacher of religion at Holy Cross. Holtz is actually a former student of Robbins.

“I remember the two years he taught me and how much I learned about our faith, about what it means to be a good Catholic, first and foremost…,” Holtz said. “His personality was so good – I mean humorous, caring, compassionate but hard on you: high expectations. Every adjective you have for a good teacher, that was Father Robbins.”

Robbins also served as a chaplain and administrator at the school.

You can read a full obituary of Robbins at Connley Brothers Funeral Home’s website. A visitation for Robbins will take place on April 2 from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Holy Cross Church in Covington. After the service, he will be entombed in the Mother of God Cemetery in Fort Wright.
