Kenton County has appointed a new director of animal services after the departure of the previous department head.

On Feb. 11, the Kenton County Fiscal Court named Taylor Jackson as interim director. Jackson takes over for Kelsey Maccombs, who left the role for a new opportunity.

“We are confident that Taylor’s leadership and passion for animal welfare will continue to drive KCAS toward fulfilling its mission,” Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said in a press release. “With her experience and dedication, we look forward to a seamless transition as we search for a new director.”

Jackson has more than a decade of experience in animal welfare, having worked in Louisville, Columbus and Cincinnati. Jackson previously worked as an intern with county animal services while attending Scott High School in Taylor Mill.

As interim director, Jackson will oversee daily operations, community outreach efforts, and the care of animals in the shelter’s custody.

Kenton County is currently accepting applications for a new director. People interested in the position should submit their applications by Feb. 26. with applications set to be reviewed on a rolling basis thereafter until the position is filled.
