The Campbell County Police Department recognized Nikki Owen as employee of the year.

Owen serves as the administrative assistant for the police department and has been with the agency since September 2014.

“Nikki has become an essential part of the department,” Campbell County Police Chief Craig Sorrell read from Owen’s certificate. “Her attention to detail, creative problem solving and drive to continuously improve have made a big impact.”

One of Owen’s standout achievements named in the employee of the year certificate was earning her credential as a victim’s advocate, which allowed her to handle victim-related calls directly providing support to officers in the community.

“Nikki’s dedication goes beyond her job duties,” Sorrell read from the certificate. “She’s always ready to help, whether it’s organizing events, handling administrative tasks or being a supportive colleague.”

Owen said she is proud to work for the Campbell County Fiscal Court and represent the police department.

“Everybody treats me very well,” she said. “It’s just been an honor to serve with everybody. All my coworkers are great. Yes, they give me a lot of grief, but we’re like one big family, and it’s just a great place to work.”
