With snowfall underway, multiple Northern Kentucky counties have issued snow emergency advisories.
Boone, Kenton, and Campbell counties published a Level 2 snow emergency advisory, warning citizens to limit travel to essential, life-sustaining activities. Road conditions are currently hazardous with county officials are strongly discouraging non-essential travel.
“A Level 2 Snow Emergency is a serious warning for all residents to limit travel to essential, life-sustaining activities,” Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery said in a news release. “We strongly recommend staying off the roads unless absolutely necessary to ensure the safety of everyone in our community.
In addition, the rural Northern Kentucky counties of Gallatin and Grant are also under snow emergency warnings.
Snow emergencies are broken down into three levels, according to this guide at KentonCounty.org:
Level 1: Road conditions are hazardous and roads may be icy; cautious driving is advised
Level 2: Road conditions are hazardous and roads may be icy; only travel if necessary, and call your employer if you are required to report to work
Level 3: Roads are restricted to emergency personnel, travel to work or for provisions, medical treatment or medical supplies, and snow removal operations; essential travel only is advised
