The Ohio River Way is asking for community support to aid in its mission of preserving Greater Cincinnati’s waterways.

The organization represents a 308-mile water trail bordering much of Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana known as Ohio River Way. It is responsible for managing and promoting the trail and is comprised of representatives from the three states.

The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is known as Giving Tuesday, a global day of charitable giving and volunteering. This Tuesday, the Ohio River Way is courting donations from the public to help fund their ongoing conservation efforts.

In its call to action, the organization noted that donations will go toward projects that expand our guidance for paddlers on the Ohio River Way, partner with river communities to pursue funding for riverfront projects and champion advocacy for the health of the Ohio River and its ecosystems.

In addition, the Ohio River Way is publishing a new Guide to the Ohio River Way in 2025, which will be the basis of the group’s advocacy efforts. Members of the organization will travel to Washington, D.C., to campaign for habitat restoration along the water trail.

People can choose from donation options of $25, $50, $100, $500 or $1,000 for the year. There’s also an option to input a custom amount.
