The Northern Kentucky Health Department has officially opened its new Kenton County Health Center on James Simpson Way in Covington.
“The Kenton County Health Center is one of the busiest of our four health centers, and having this new building will give us the space and resources necessary to better serve the people of Kenton County,” said the department’s District Director of Health Dr. Jennifer Mooney in a press release.

The department previously operated out of an old building on Madison Avenue, which the department put on sale earlier this year.
Planning for the new facility began in 2016, and St. Elizabeth Healthcare donated the land on which the center now stands in 2017. The 10,000-square-foot building cost $4.6 million. The money came from the county’s Board of Public Health.
“Last year, the Center served 5,657 clients, provided 193 immunizations to children, screened 277 women for cancer and provided 4,821 families with WIC benefits,” according to the department’s press release.
