The City of Walton has elected Terri Courtney as its next mayor.
Courtney defeated former mayor Gabriel “Gabe” Brown 1,424 to 647 votes. She is currently serving as the city’s interim mayor.
Courtney, formerly a councilwoman, was appointed as mayor after Brown resigned in May due to a city investigation into his conduct during his time in office. The investigation yielded a 79-page report that levied seven charges against Brown, notably misuse of city property and hundreds of thousands of dollars of city money.
