Officials are investigating following a fatal shooting in Newport Saturday afternoon.
A 42-year-old man arrived at the Newport Fire Department at 3:30 p.m. with an unknown injury, according to a press release from the Newport Police Department.
Paramedics began treating the man and discovered that he had been shot in the chest.
Campbell County Police dispatch confirmed that the shooting took place along Isabella Street near Elm Street and W. 8th Street.
The man was transported to the University of Cincinnati Hospital where he died from his injuries.
The Newport Police Department is investigating the shooting and believes it to be an isolated incident. At this time police state that there is no immediate danger to the public.
