A historic storefront in Covington that formerly housed the Pike Street Clinic, a health service provider for people experiencing homelessness, will now be restored thanks to a $10,000 grant from Duke Energy to the Catalytic Fund of Northern Kentucky.

“The Catalytic Fund has a long history of partnering with the Duke Energy Foundation to make impactful investments in Northern Kentucky’s river cities. This year, we’re welcoming of their support on a project on Pike Street in Covington,” Travis Gysegem, director of research and underwriting for the Catalytic Fund, said in a press release. “With this support, we can spur momentum to overhaul a vacant and deteriorated building and bring about economic development opportunities for the community.”

Specific plans for what might go into the building beyond its restoration have not been established.

The grant is one of seven $10,000 grants issued as part of Duke Energy’s 2024 Urban Revitalization program, which has issued $3.4 million in grants since its inception 13 years ago.
