Neltner’s Farm and The Lavender Field have been accepted into the 2024 Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Farm Market Program.

As members of this program, these markets have “committed to providing top-quality products and services to their customers,” per an announcement from the bureau. This certification ensures that each market meets the highest quality standards, freshness and marketing appeal.

Neltner’s Farm is open April through October, and The Lavender Field opens in the summer.

Located at 922 Four Mile Road in Melbourne, Neltner’s Farm sells fresh produce, salsa, jams and jellies and serves as an event and wedding venue. The market’s Fall Festival, which includes music, local food, a petting zoo, horse-drawn wagon rides, barrel train rides, pumpkins, a corn maze, decorative squash, cider, sweet potatoes and more, has become a regional destination for families and festival goers. Kentucky Farm Bureau President Eddie Melton is excited about the continued growth of the certified farm market program. He said there has been an increasing demand for locally grown foods, a positive development over the last few years.

“We look forward to another successful season of providing farm-fresh goods to customers by some of the best producers across this state,” Melton said.

Located at 3629 Smith Road in California, The Lavender Fields invites visitors to hand-pick their own bundles of lavender in June and July. The farm also offers a gift shop with products made from the lavender fields. For more information, visit their website here.

The Kentucky Farm Bureau Certified Farm Market logo identifies markets certified through this program, and they are listed in the online directory. The program also provides collective advertising, promotional items, educational tour opportunities and other marketing benefits to increase the net farm income of member markets.
