The Campbell County Police Department welcomed two new police officers this week.

Storm Painter and Erik Schnitzler were sworn into the Campbell County Police Department on Sept. 4 in front of the Campbell County Fiscal Court.

Major Jeremy Newberry with the Campbell County Police Department was there for the swearing-in. Newberry said the new officers were sent to Richmond for 20 weeks of training at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training. Then they returned and are now riding around in a police car with a training officer for another 12 weeks.

Both officers are lifelong Campbell County residents and attended Campbell County High School.

“We’re fortunate to live in a place that respects the law and respects the work that you’re to do, and will hold you up as an example to the rest of the community of people doing the right thing for the right reasons,” Campbell County Judge/Executive Steve Pendery said. “You’re going to have support, not just from the larger community, but also from the fiscal court. I think if you ask around, you’ll find that there are a few things that get a little controversial once in a while, but in the end and from the beginning, we have your back.”
