Pickleball courts are coming to Pioneer Park in Covington in 2025.
Last week, the Kenton County Fiscal Court approved a bid from Riegler Blacktop to redesign the tennis courts at the park to include several pickleball courts. The project also includes a renovation of the park’s basketball courts and fencing replacements.
The project is slated to begin in September, according to an announcement from the county, and conclude in the second quarter of next year. The county estimates costs for the project at about $324,000.
“Our team is thrilled with how well-used the pickleball courts at Richardson Road Park are, which made it an easy decision to look for ways to give residents access to pickleball courts at our other county parks,” Judge/Executive Kris Knochelmann said in the county’s announcement. “We always want our parks to match the needs of our residents, and by making investments such as this, we’re able to do just that.”
The county added its first pickleball courts to Richardson Road Park in Independence last year.
