Newport is unveiling 25 banners featuring active duty service members and veterans with ties to the city.

These banners will be displayed on Monmouth Street and possibly other city areas. They will be rotated with other banners in the city, so if they come down, they will be put back up in the future.

The city will hold a brief unveiling ceremony of the Hometown Heroes banners on Thursday, July 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the city building, 998 Monmouth St. The banners are anticipated to be hung the night of July 3.

According to the city, they anticipate a greater demand for the banners, so if you want to honor your veteran with a banner, they are still adding to the collection. Reach out for more information here.
