The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of the Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati regions, including Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties, as well as multiple counties in Ohio and Indiana.
The advisory is in effect from noon Monday until 8 p.m. on Friday. Thunderstorms are also possible this afternoon and evening and later throughout the week.

Approximately 1,220 people in the United States are killed by extreme heat every year, according to the Northern Kentucky Health Department. The department has issued the following tips for staying safe during the heat:
- If it isn’t necessary to go outside, don’t
- If you don’t have air conditioning, take a trip to places that do, such as a mall or movie theater–>check out some of the region’s public cooling centers here
- If you have to work outside, slow down and take lots of water breaks
- Wear light and loose-fitting clothing
- Drink plenty of water, even if you’re not outside
- Check on your neighbors and family
- Don’t forget your pets. Make sure they have plenty of water, and keep them inside in the air conditioning
- Be prepared for power outages
