The Ludlow Independent Schools Board of Education officially voted to appoint Jason Steffen, a 13-year district veteran, as the district’s new superintendent at a special meeting Thursday morning.

“Jason’s experience and familiarity within the district is unmatched,” said Board of Education President Wesley Dorger in an official announcement from the district, “and we feel very confident in his ability to maintain our status as one of the premier independent school districts in Northern Kentucky.”

Steffen, who currently works as the district’s director of teaching and learning, will assume the role of superintendent from Mike Borchers, who announced his retirement in February. Steffen formerly served as the principal of the district’s elementary school. He will assume his role on July 1.

Steffen will inherit a multi-million dollar renovation project, which will see a variety of improvements throughout the district’s facilities. The district broke ground on the project in October.

He said he’s excited to continue the work that started before he took on his new role.

“As for what’s going on the district with our facilities, our academics, our athletics opportunities, I just want to continue on that and look to maybe expand that in the future,” Steffen told LINK nky. “But right now, just continuing on the trend that we have right now is really my number one mission.”

Steffen lives in Fort Thomas with his wife and children.
