Boone County is continuing its relationship with Brighton Recovery Center for Women.
At last week’s Boone County Fiscal Court meeting, the court authorized a resolution that executed a grant agreement between the center and the county.
Brighton Recovery Center for Women is a 100-bed facility located in Florence that helps women recover from chronic substance use disorder and addiction. Women spend an average of nine to twelve months in the center, according to their website.
The grant is part of an ongoing partnership between Brighton Recovery Center for Women and Boone County. On Dec. 1, Boone County held a public hearing to review past uses of funds and program performance, said Deputy County Administrator Matt Dowling.
The Kentucky Community Development Block Grant Program funded the grant and administered by the Kentucky Department for Local Government.
“I just want to take an opportunity to thank the court for their support of women in recovery of substance use disorders,” said recovery services director Anita Prater. “We all know that when women are in active recovery, they are becoming active citizens of our community and our society.”
In addition, Prater informed the court of her impending retirement effective March 29. Prater has worked at the Brighton Center for 25 years.
Prater then introduced her successor, Janie Hamilton, as well as Brighton Center Vice President Ellen Bates.
“To the new team, we looking forward to having the same great working relationship,” Boone County Judge/Executive Gary Moore said during the meeting.
