A lockdown related to a bomb threat has been lifted, according to statements from the county school district and the Florence Police Department.
The threat was sent to the police through a suicide prevention hotline, according to a press release from the Florence PD. Someone told the hotline operator there was a bomb at the school, and it was scheduled to go off in an hour. The school was placed on lockdown, and the CVG Police Bomb Unit searched the building. No explosives were located.
A statement from the district said that students were sent home about 25 minutes past normal dismissal time.
“The safety and security of all students is of the utmost importance to us, and we will continue to work with law enforcement agencies in these types of situations to continue to ensure the safety of all,” the district statement said.
Florence PD detectives are following up with an investigation, but the police do not believe the threats were credible at this time.
