The Missionaries of Saint John the Baptist, the traditional Catholic order that runs the Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Park Hills, has issued a statement in response to the Diocese of Covington’s recent barring of two of the parish’s priests, Reverends Shannon Collins and Sean Kopczynski, from their ministerial duties.

“Fr. Shannon and Fr. Sean accept the limitations placed on their ministry,” the statement reads, “and pray that a swift resolution to this difficulty may be found so the Missionaries and their community in formation may continue to serve faithfully the Church and minister to the parishioners of Our Lady of Lourdes.”
The Missionaries and the parish adhere to traditional Catholic worship forms, including the traditional Latin Mass. Although the Diocese recognizes the group as belonging to the Catholic Church, the Diocese’s statement indicates it suspended Collins and Kopcyznski due to their criticism of modern worship practices.
