While Northern Kentucky will see a few competitive races in November for the general election, only one NKY city has enough filings to primary in May.

Covington is the only city in the region with enough filings to trigger a primary—which requires double the number of seats plus one filing. Though there are not many primaries this time around, there are contested races for the general election, including Florence, Erlanger, Bellevue, Dayton, Fort Thomas and Newport.

The primary election will take place on May 21, and the general election will be on Nov. 5.
