The Newport Citizens Academy, a public initiative aimed at increasing civic engagement and literacy, is seeking applicants for its eight-week-long session in 2024.
“Through presentations by each department and various divisions, participants will receive first-hand knowledge of how city tax dollars are budgeted and expensed for City Services,” said the city’s website.
The program will begin on Feb. 22, 2024, and conclude with a graduation ceremony in April. Classes are limited to 15 students each, and applications are due by Feb. 2, 2024. Learn more and apply for a spot at the City of Newport’s corresponding web page.
