Kenton County Animal Services sharedthe results of its adoption drive this week. The drive occurred between Oct. 5 and Oct. 8 and during the drive, all adoption fees were waived. According to the county, intake levels jumped up 23% year-over-year, and more than 950 dogs were taken in this year alone.

“We needed help after our occupancy levels jumped, and the community stepped up big,” said Animal Services Director Kelsey Maccombs in a recent press release. “Placing so many animals into homes in such a short period is an awesome success story for our team.”

A total of 67 animals were adopted during the event: 35 cats and kittens, 31 dogs and puppies and one rabbit.

The number of animals still at the county facility, as well as the county’s foster networks, is still high: 173 cats and kittens and 114 dogs and puppies.
