A 31-year-old man has turned himself into police after a Tuesday evening fight in Covington led to a shooting that killed a man, police said.

Police responded to Russell Street near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard after 6 p.m. Tuesday for a reported shooting. When they arrived, police said they found two people injured.

Originally, police reported two people had been shot. Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders said Wednesday only one person, 34-year-old Edgar Lopez, was shot. A second person was taken to the hospital with injuries from a fight with Lopez.

Police said there was a fight at another location that carried into the shooting. A third person fired the gun.

On Friday, detectives identified Dazzamon Raheem Jones as the suspect in the shooting after a SWAT team helped conduct a search warrant in the 1200 block of Banklick Street.

On Saturday, Jones turned himself into police and is being held on a warrant for murder.

Another man, Brian Gray, was also arrested Wednesday for assaulting Lopez before the shooting. Gray has been charged with second degree assault and is being held at the Kenton County Detention Center.
