Citizens of Crestview Hills could be seeing lower real property tax in the future.
Mayor Paul Meier read the first reading of an ordinance providing for the levy, apportionment and collections of taxes and revenue for 2023.
“This ordinance changes the current tax from $0.167 per $100 value to $.165 per $100 dollar value,” read the mayor. “So the rate has actually gone down.” Real property is defined as a building — business, home or apartment — fixed on land.
The council members also heard first reads of ordinances about amending the city parking ordinance, amending the solicitor’s license ordinance and adopting the cable franchise agreement.
These four ordinances will be read for the second time at a special meeting on Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. instead of at the council meeting’s regular 7 p.m. meeting time.
