The Campbell County Republican Party’s first official meeting of the year is scheduled for next week.

Members of the CCRP have been outspoken about the lack of meetings held by party Chair Anna Zinkhon since divisions emerged in the party in February. Party members did call two special sessions in March and April, but those were recently ruled invalid by the Republican Party of Kentucky’s 4th District because they were not called to order by Zinkhon.

Following the verdict from District 4 on the invalid meetings, five members of the CCRP signed a petition on June 19 calling for a special meeting, this time ensuring to do the process correctly. The petition called for Zinkhon to call a special session “to address the business of a 30-day removal notice for both Chairman Anna Zinkhon and Treasurer Stephen Cunningham.”

“I signed the petition because we want Anna Zinkhon to call a meeting,” CCRP Precinct Captain and one of the petition signers, Mirna Eads, told LINK nky in June. “And we need a special meeting in order to have her and Steve Cunningham removed. And we are not willing to give up or give in, and we’re going to continue until she does her job.”

After that petition was sent out, Republican Party of Kentucky’s 4th District Chair Jon Park sent an email to Zinkhon citing a Republican Party of Kentucky rule that states that county committees shall hold regular meetings no less than quarterly. Park then said in the email that the lack of meetings within the mandated law has resulted in an inactive party status for CCRP.

The last CCRP meeting called by Zinkhon was in December 2022.

“Even though the 4th District Appeals Committee ruled against your removal from office because proper procedures were not followed by the appellants, does not condone your continued failure to call a county meeting,” Park said in the email. “Likewise, you cannot ignore a petition from five members of the CCRP to call a meeting.”

In the email, Park said Zinkhon must call a meeting by the end of July. The next CCRP meeting is scheduled for July 27 at 7 p.m. in the Wilder City Building at 520 Licking Pike.
