Bomb threats at Newport, Bellevue Kroger resolved

UPDATE: Bellevue Police confirmed the threat at the Bellevue location has been resolved. They believe that the threats were part of a nation-wide hoax. Federal investigators are being informed.–06/10/23 @ 1 p.m.

UPDATE: The City of Newport announced the bomb threat at the Newport location has been resolved. LINK nky is still awaiting word from Bellevue. –06/10/23 @ 12:39 p.m.

LINK nky has confirmed active bomb threats at the Kroger locations in Bellevue and Newport.

Bellevue Police Chief Jon McClain confirmed that a Kroger employee in Bellevue had received a phone call from someone warning them of a bomb in the building.

Newport officer Lieutenant Jeff Kohls on the scene at the Newport location said that they received a phone call at 10:31 a.m. informing them of a threat, adding that Bellevue had received a call about five minutes later. The threats appear to be from the same caller. A bomb sniffing dog on loan from the airport is sweeping the property.

Both buildings have been evacuated and the areas are on lock-down. Bomb specialists on loan from the airport are on site.

At 11:50 a.m., a few minutes after LINK nky received this information, police began letting employees back into the Newport location.
