Highland Heights Council Member Eddie Fessler, arrested on drug possession and trafficking charges Tuesday, entered a not-guilty plea Thursday.
Fessler was arraigned in Campbell County District Court by judge Erin Sizemore. The Northern Kentucky Drug Task Force said they arrested Fessler following a citizen’s tip.
Fessler’s charges include a felony trafficking and possession charge for allegedly having at least two grams of meth in his possession. He was also charged with possession of hallucinogens in the form of LSD, as well as marijuana and firearm possession. The felony status of the trafficking charge induced Judge Sizemore to rule a not-guilty plea on Fessler’s behalf, which is standard procedure for felonies.
Fessler, 43, has lived in Highland Heights for 18 years and began his position as a city council member in January. The city of Highland Heights issued a statement related to the case on Feb. 21.
The court scheduled a preliminary hearing for March 2 at 1 p.m.
