Two women were killed in a fire on Thanksgiving Day in Newport, according to the Campbell County coroner’s office.

Firefighters found 71-year-old Sarah Osborne deceased inside the Overton Street home, confirmed the coroner’s office. 47-year-old Teresa Osborne died the following day, according to a Hamilton County Coroner’s report.

The younger Osborne, along with her husband, were transported by ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center Thanksgiving night. Both were in critical condition with some burn injuries.

The blaze broke out on the 700 block of Overton St. in Newport around 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. Firefighters from seven departments responded to the blaze. While the fire was extinguished within approximately nine minutes, the scene from it lasted well into the next morning.

Newport Fire Chief Frank Peluso said the bulk of the fire happened on the first floor, with some extensive smoke damage spread throughout the rest of the home.
