Governor Andy Beshear made appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions Tuesday. This includes two locals appointed members of the Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents.
Beshear has appointed Nathan Smith and Brad Zapp as members of the Northern Kentucky University Board of Regents.
- Nathan Smith of Fort Mitchell is the chief investment officer at Flagship Communities REIT. He will replace Gregory Shumate, whose term has expired. Smith will serve for one term expiring June 30, 2028.
- Brad Zapp of Covington is the managing partner of Connetic Ventures. He will replace Normand Desmarais, whose term has expired. Zapp will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.

Tom Abell, Brenda Gosney and Lance Lucas as members of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees.
- Abell of Lexington is a physician at Abell Eyes Refractive Solutions. He will replace Bryan Sunderland, whose term has expired. Abell will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
- Brenda Gosney of Butler is a retired hospital administrator. She will replace Michael Christian, whose term has expired. Gosney will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
- Lance Lucas of Union is an attorney at Lucas and Dietz. He will replace Elizabeth McCoy, whose term has expired. Lucas will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
Edwin Orange and Kristie Whitlatch as members of the Eastern Kentucky University Board of Regents.
- Edwin Orange of Frankfort is a consultant at Three Poplars LLC. He will replace Vasu Vasudevan, whose term has expired. Orange will serve for one term expiring June 30, 2028.
- Kristie Whitlatch of Ashland is the president and chief executive officer at King’s Daughters Health System. She will replace Lewis Diaz, whose term has expired. Whitlatch will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
Gary Broady and Melissa Dennison as members of the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents.
- Gary Broady of Franklin is the executive director of the Bluegrass Community Bankers Association. He will replace Julie Hinson, whose term has expired. Broady will serve for one term expiring June 30, 2028.
- Melissa Dennison of Lexington is a physician at Cumberland Family Medical. She will replace Jason McKinney. Dennison will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
Laura Russell as a member of the Morehead State University Board of Regents. Beshear also reappointed Craig Preece.
- Laura Russell of Louisville is an attorney at Eddins Domine Law Group PLLC. Russell will replace Terri Walters, whose term has expired. Russell will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
- Craig Preece of Inez is the general manager of The Elite Agency Inc. He will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
Beshear reappointed Gerald Patton and Robert Ramsey as members of the Kentucky State University Board of Regents.
- Gerald Patton of Rancho Mirage, California, is a retired higher education executive and will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
Robert Ramsey of Georgetown is retired from public service and will serve one term expiring June 30, 2028.
Joan Brown as the Magistrate for the Fifth District of Clay County.
Donald McFadden as the Property Valuation Administrator for Laurel County.
