Covington Independent Schools has found the next leader of their Transformational Learning Center.
Sean Bohannon, a 26-year veteran of Covington Schools is replacing Lorie Duffy, who recently retired. Bohannon is a graduate of Holmes High School.
“I believe in our students and know our children can be successful,” Bohannon said. “We have great students who are very talented in many ways and I want to showcase those talents. I want the very best for our students.”
The Transformational Learning Center is for students who have behavioral issues or may have been suspended from school.
Bohannon’s first job in the district was as a paraprofessional at Latonia Elementary School. He has also served as a math teacher for Holmes Junior High and Holmes High Schools, head track coach, football coach, teacher for the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky, dean of students, director of Covington Alternative School for Renewal Education, assistant principal of Holmes High School, director of basketball operations, principal of Holmes Middle School and assistant principal of TLC.
Superintendent Alvin Garrison said Bohannon builds genuine, honest, and trustworthy relationships with all stakeholders.
“He is a veteran educator who is well-known throughout the city,’’ Garrison said. “He knows our parents and our students. He wants the best for all involved.’’
Bohannon earned undergraduate degrees from Kentucky State University and Northern Kentucky University, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. He earned his superintendent’s certification from the University of Kentucky, and is presently working on his doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.
