Authorities have located missing 26-year-old Matthew Geohegan, healthy and unharmed.
Hours after the Boone County Sheriff’s Office sent out an alert in an effort to track him down, the Florence Police Department located Geohegan on Wednesday evening in good health on Dixie Highway, according to the sheriff’s office.
His family was notified and he returned home.
Geohegan was reported missing by his family after he left home on June 19 and did not return.
He told his family he would be back the following day, but he didn’t come home. He left the house on foot without his medication, and his family feared he would become dehydrated in the summer heat.
The family reported that Geohegan “walked from his Florence home to Dixie Highway and tends to frequent the Covington area,” according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
He was ultimately located in Florence by local police.
